Making paper came as a necessity.
I moved to Canada and needed to source beautiful paper for a commission. The same options I was using in Europe were not available here. I had difficulty sourcing the paper for the work I envisioned for my client. So I thought: I'll make it myself.
That was the beginning of Papier June.
Who I am
Axelle, Creative Director & Paper Maker
French-born graphic designer with over 20 years of branding experience. Everything I make is built around the feeling of holding something made with complete intentionality.
My work is modern, deliberate and restrained, with my handmade paper as the organic element that grounds everything else.
I don't follow trends. In five years, trendy wedding stationery all looks the same. That's never been interesting to me. If you want something that feels like nothing you've seen in a wedding context before, that's exactly what I'm here for. A Pinterest board of other people's stationery doesn’t tell me your story.
I develop a visual language specific to each couple built from who they actually are, their world, their aesthetic, their instincts.
The clients I work best with are kind, curious, and open to the creative process. When trust exists from the beginning, we can feel it in the work.
How I work
I create through intensity and immersion. When I'm in, I'm completely in, and my clients feel that.
They don't just receive stationery. They leave the process feeling like something was made specifically, irreplaceably theirs.
I take on eight bespoke commissions per year. Not to manufacture scarcity, because that's genuinely what it takes to give each one everything it deserves.
